We made a reservation and paid online. We arrived just a bus of kids did also. I sighed knowing Id like have to put up with tons of people in my way when I took pictures. I approached the counter and let the guy know we were early for our reservation. He said that way fine they were going to take the kids out to the park to look and talk about the plants and trees before the house. He left us with a gentleman to talk about the house to us and then let us wonder around the house. Each room has a sign to explain what it is and likely how it was used. They do allow you take photos in the house and they have plenty of parking, the visitors center has bathrooms. Everyone we interacted with was very pleasant and happy to have us there. I recommend going to this house such a cool place not in downtown Nashville.
